I mounted one, it worked great. A couple of months later I bought a second. It works great. The problem is they don’t show real time view. It rotates every 30 seconds. Worse than that, when tou have motion on both, only the one that picked it up first will record, the other one will not. They will not record at the same time. So, if a dog sets the one off at your back door, and a burglar kicks in your front door just a second later. You will not have it on video or see it! I tried customer service and they were absolutely no help whatsoever. Was planning on purchasing another one but why? Not satisfied at all.Update; To my surprise, after reading my review Ring customer service contacted me. They advised I could not get simultaneous live view but they should record simultaneously. They offered to help me troubleshoot my system. Since I was not at home, I couldn’t take them up on the offer. Got home and rebooted both cameras. They now record simultaneously. Still no simultaneous live view.I was shocked Ring cared enough to read the review, much less contact me and offer assistance. It’s rare that a company cares that much. I may give camera 3 a try.

This is one of 5 RING cameras I have set up. It ran for over 4 years but recently the exterior camera and speaker cover must have come off as the lights stopped working and the camera fogged up. We did not notice this as it was 18′ in the air. I ordered a new one on Cyber Monday and installed it today. Easier set up now than 4 years ago, pictures is great and features awesome. Just hoping the cover plate stays on and is better than the 4 year old unit.

I have multiple Ring products and just added this security camera. Ring has gone the extra mile to ensure the setup is as easy as possible. Generally, the most difficult part of hanging an electrical fixture, which is essentially what this is, is holding it in place while connecting the wires. The Ring team simplified this by adding a hook on the included base and a ribbon with a metal clasp on the light/camera that fits over the hook. Thus, you can hang the light/camera from the already mounted base while attaching the wire nuts. They also included a Phillips/flat head screwdriver. Remove the blade and the handle fits over the included mounting nuts used to attach the security camera to the wall.Bring up the Ring app, scan the included code and the setup is done.

Firstly, once this is installed it is a fantastic product. The installation process is horrible though. The instructions are useless and they might as well just link to youtube. It relies on wire nut connections but the housing has no space and it expects you to have a round junction box to mount it on. If you don’t have that, you need to drill a 3 and 1/2-inch (or more) hole to add one. Also while you connect the wires, there is a ribbon to hold it up and that ribbon keeps getting in the way once you try to stick it on the bolts to fasten it on. If you already have a round junction box this will probably be a lot easier but they don’t really explain all this initially. I love it now that the annoying part is done though. 1 out of 5 for installation and 5 out of 5 for the actual functionality.

I absolutely love the quality and service I get with this device. I’m literally able to check my house from hundreds and thousands of miles away at any time. The app is really great and I love that I can merge different properties in just one location. I plan to purchase more Ring products; especially this security floodlight. It’s awesome!

I had a little difficulty setting it up (I downloaded the wrong app), but now it works as I hoped it would. It’s facing the street, so I bypassed motion alerts, but receive alerts when it detects a person. Most of them are people walking down the sidewalk, but there’s only so far you can limit the detection zone and still get the alerts you want to see. My only gripe with the camera is it takes 8 – 10 seconds before the alert pops up on my phone and the video is available. The message gets to Alexa almost instantly, but you can’t view the video until it makes it to your phone. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my Ring Motion Detector Floodlight.

Iβm m very pleased with this camera/flood light. It does exactly what I need from it and was easy to install and get working. There are plenty of features, such as adjusting the light intensity, motion zones, etc. that make it customizable for your application and needs. The only thing I can say about it that really isnβt a negative but a heads up is that youβre going to have to spend the time needed to set it up in the app and change settings to make it function the way you want it to. After a week with this i turned off the motion notifications. It was blowing my phone up every time there was activity in my driveway. (Deer, Racoons, Foxes) Did it defeat the purpose of installing it? No, I still have the recordings if I need them.Lastly, if you set the device to give motion alerts it will make a chime noise every time it senses. That gets annoying pretty quick if youβre outside and this thing is chiming every time you walk by. Using the modes option doesnβt stop it.

Overall the camera is easy to setup and the flood light brightness is great (and can be adjusted). The one thing thatβs really bad is the plastic mounting bracket. If you get lucky and get an old metal one great. The new plastic ones are horrible. They donβt fit the 4β box as recommended for install unless the box has recessed posts (and I mean really recessed, like 1/4β recessed). Be prepared to change or modify your existing floodlight box to get a good seal. Even with the recessed posts the plastic bracket only has a single center mounting screw, so with minimum force you can spin the entire thing even when itβs all put together. I really hope they revert back to the metal bracket at some point. Everything elseβs is great.
