I highly recommend LED Lytes. My husband and I really enjoy these candles. LED Lytes is a wonderful 5 star company who produce quality products, and the owners stand behind their products 100%. They even send out an email after your purchase to make sure you are happy with your purchase. And their products are less expensive than their competition (some competitors use strong vanilla scents, cheap plastic, hard to access battery compartments (some using screws) and low quality all around). LED Lytes uses real wax which makes them more realistic – but without the mess and danger. The “flame” sits low enough to add an authentic appearance. The sizes in this set of 3 (6″x3″, 5″x3″ and 4″x3″) look very nice together, or can be placed in different areas. The colors are soft and lovely. Each candle takes 3 AAA batteries which can be found for sale practically everywhere. The batteries are easy to place, and change (the battery compartments are very easy to open and close). The remote uses a coin size battery which are easily and inexpensively for sale on Amazon.com. I have found some in local battery stores, and even in some watch battery departments. The remote works really well, and we enjoy all the features (automatic color rotation, or all 1 color, flickering, a 4 hour timer, and an 8 hour timer, etc.) The multi-color feature is really nice because not all the candles are the same throughout the process. They remind me of our small fiber optic Christmas tree. My husband and I are having so much fun with the remotes (since we purchased 2 sets we each have a remote to use.) And we enjoy being able to use the remote the 12 feet distance from our chairs to the top of our entertainment center. I read in other reviews that the slight vanilla odor is barely there, or not there at all. On ours only 2 out of the 6 have a faint odor, and I’m so thankful because for me odors have been migraine triggers. Where they are kept we are unable to detect any odor at all. We are thinking of ordering more sets for presents. We have family and friends that have children, and some have pets, so we feel confident everyone will be safe when using LED Lytes. They would make great presents for every occasion (Christmas, birthday, bridal shower, baby shower, secret sister, hostess gifts, at meal time, using them for ambience everywhere). We use them in our many locations (dining room, tv room, living room, bedroom, and bathroom). We are looking forward to using them when we go camping so we can have mood lighting without fear and worry of fires and messes. They are safe and easy to carry around during power outages. For our Welcome Center at church we have already purchased the set of 6 2″ x 2″ candles which use coin size batteries (easily and inexpensively for sale on Amazon.com), and a set of 2 5″ tall x 3″ wide candles which use 3 AAA batteries. We have had many complements, and inquiries of where they were purchased, and are happy to pass along the information for LED Lytes. For people with dexterity and/or vision difficulties the candles using the 3 AAA batteries are best – being so easy to see, access and change. I have even taped small labels on the bottom of each candle to indicate on and off areas, and on the battery compartment door battery size and amount needed.

***** Update 2I received the replacement candles a few days after I was contacted by the seller. I have been checking them out for the last several days and they appear to be operating as expected now. I assume now that my first order was a defective set with inconsistent on/off automatic timers but this set operates according to design. I trust this will now continue over time. But since this set operates as expected and the customer service followup to my initial review was outstanding I am changing my rating to a 5. They are truly beautiful and exceed my original expectations.***** UpdateI was just contacted by the seller\provider of the candles offering to replace them for me with new ones that hopefully will function properly. For this I am very appreciative and have revised my rating to 4 stars based on the quality of the sellers willingness to stand behind their product. If the replacements work well I will revise my rating again to 5 stars as I had originally planned until they began to fail.*** Original review: I really liked the look and the initial function of the candles. They make a great contrast to all the round candles we have around the house. So for appearance, they do exactly what I want and expect of an LED candle. However…Soon after I set them up I began to notice that, unlike all our other timed candles, these have not been consistent in when they come on each night. I initially turned them on using the button on the bottom so they would come on at 7 pm and then activated the four hour operation on all three using the remote. It all went as expected and seemed to work just like our other candles. Then things started to get strange. The second night one came on at 7 pm as expected. But the second one came on around 7:45. The last one activated unnoticed at some point before 9. All three were off by morning. Now less that a month after buying them none are coming on at 7, the second lights about 30 minutes after the first, and the last one seems to just light up at some point and then shut off about five seconds later. It then comes on again to shut off a few seconds later, repeating again and again. It just won’t stay on.I have changed the AAA batteries more than once to eliminate them as the issue, and I reset all three candles multiple times to try and get them to sync and all come on close to the same time. The remote seems to pass signals correctly so I can only assume that I received a batch of defective candles. And of course, my box is gone and my return option for Amazon expired yesterday.I will likely just place these in a place where they will look nice without wasting batteries on them, or I may simply chuck them. The cost was not significant so I am not out a lot. Sad, though, because I really loved the look.I am rating the remote and value as high as they seem to work correctly and the price seems very reasonable if you get a set that works. I would not gift these unless you confirm they work first… so I knocked that down a little.

These are pretty fun for decoration, but when the batteries start to lose power – they will all flash in a strobing pattern. For hours sometimes until they eventually lose power. We keep them on the 4 or 8 hour timer, and rechargeable will get us about 3-6 usage periods. I donβt know why they were designed to strobe when they are dying, because if you use them at night itβs really going to ruin it, especially if more than one starts to go.
