OK i bought 2 sets of these lights for my 40 feet wide x 60 feet long and 22 feet high SHOPfirst of all i have 18 total lights i simply installed outlets on the ceiling when we built the shop at the center point at 3 locations, one left, center and right. each outlet is a duplex plug.since the plugs are in the center of a 60 foot in length they were installed at the 30 foot mark.i have 3 lights put together in a string and ran 3 strings running forward from the midpoint on the left, center and right, and 3 running backwards from the same duplex outlets for a total of 18 lights 6 strings of 3 each.let me tell you the lights have gotten more compliments than just about anything else in the shop by contractors, still getting work done and friends who have seen the shop.the Only gripe it the fact several have stopped working and now i know why!these things are 8 feet long, and when on they get warm. they are made on an extruded aluminum frame (heatsink) well if you know anything about physics metal expands when its heated up, and when you have 8 feet x 3 lights or 24 feet of aluminum they get longer by about a quarter of an inch i am guessing from one end of the string to the other.that said when your using the tiny solid plastic connectors between each and butt them end to end, they will grow and for a tiny amount actually have to slide through the mounting brackets i used to install them. when they cool one of the brackets on either end is probably just a little tighter than the others and as they shrink, they become unplugged from one another.how can you fix this? well in my case i am looking at several approaches, the most obvious to me seems to be how to tie them together at the ends with a mechanical fastener like a strip of aluminum and a screw at each end that spans the gap between them. i am going to inspect and make sure there’s no electronics to drill through on the aluminum body that would prevent me from drilling a small hole and inserting a small pan head screw to secure an aluminum strip across the gap to make sure they don’t separate.another idea would be to hang them from a couple pieces of string looped around them at each end so they can move a little and stay together, or if i separate them a little and use the 4 foot extension cords they provided but ill have a wad of cord to secure and tie up between each and i have to separate them by a few inches to accomplish this.i believe the only time you will have problems with these going out will be when your installation has them right across a ceiling butted end to end more than 2 at a time. if you have just 2 in a string i don’t think they will come unplugged because each light can expand and contract a little at each end. but when you have 3 or more i think the one in the middle pushes it’s partners apart enough that eventually after you turn them off and they cool they will disconnect.my biggest problem is i have a 22 foot high ceiling and as you can imagine it is difficult and dangerous to get up that high on anything to fix them, without a scissor lift that i have to rent at about $100 a pop to get close enough to them to make a permanent fix.another guy used some u shaped pipe clamps that fit over them as several have said the brackets they come with won’t hold them. i think this idea will work well for a simple solution because i would expect the lights will easily slide through these brackets and keep them from getting pulled apart as they cool. i tweaked each of brackets a little so they would grip tighter and IMO i feel the brackets they come with are more than adequate for the light weight they have to support. HOWEVER i do highly recommend you snap a chalk line across your ceiling to get the brackets exactly in a straight line if your butt them end to end or use more then 2 brackets one at each end of a light because if you plan to use 3 or 4 of the brackets they come with you need them perfectly in line with each other. i found 2 was enough, just make sure each end of the bracket snaps firmly around the side of the light.

I replaced a bunch of fluorescent fixtures with the 8ft, 5000K, 9000LM version of these and these are so much brighter. I have only had them installed for 2 weeks so I can’t comment on their reliability, but all 10 received worked perfectly out of the box. I have installed 8 of the 10 in my 22 x 30 ft garage (two separate wall switches for selectable brightness) and even with just half of the lights on it is brighter than with the fluorescent lights I replaced. My only complaint is that with the clear lens the individual LEDs are so bright that the burn into you vision if you look directly at them. I have 10-foot ceilings and it is still a bit of an issue for me. That is my only complaint and my reason for just 4 of 5 stars. What I like:- Easy to install (some people say the clips don’t hold, but mine hold just fine)- Ability to connect them directly end-to-end- Very bright- The daylight color temperature is great for car detailing or autobody/paint workWhat I don’t like:- The clear lens means they burn into your vision if you look directly at them.

Pretty easy to install, best thing to do is snap a chalk line to mark where to screw the brackets in place so they are in a straight line. The hard wire plug is only about 3 to 4 inches long so if you plan to go into a receptacle box you will need to use the 3 prong plug since its 2 ft instead of 3 to 4 inches. The hard wire plug should be at least 2 ft long but its not. Everything came shipped unbroken and in good condition, all lights were working properly as they should. I tested each light before installing since I read other reviews stating that if one is broken they all need to be returned together, so instead of installing 9 out of 10 lights then finding out one is bad I tested them from the start! Overall everything seems to be working very well and very bright! If a year or 2 years from now they start to go out on me I will update this review. These lights should last at least 10 years based on the hour rating. The first set of lights I bought said 50,000 hours which was Commercial Electric and 5 out of 6 lights had LEDs going out on them within 2 years.

I’ve had 27 of these installed in a 25ftx50ft workshop for about the last 3 months. I’ve had no issues at all since they were installed. Each package comes with all the hardware needed for installation as well as numerous different cables for connecting them together. I would note that while these are efficient, enough of them can cause a significant electrical load. I ended up installing them in strings of 5 lights in series with each string in parallel across two separate circuits. While installation is simple, I would recommend having a qualified electrician help to plan out the wiring if you aren’t familiar with basic electrical theory.

I bought the 10 pack of 8ft lights for my 30×30 shop. They are bright and easy to set up. However if you have a steel building like mine, the mounting hardware is useless. Which is why they are placed how they are. I will likely get some large white zip ties and mount them directly on my rafters facing down and 90 degrees from the way they are instead of just laying thru the rafters.

My husband had been working in his 40×28 pole barn garage with only a stand light and extension cords. Hung 8 of these from the 12’h rafters using zip tie loops in about 30 mins and they are super bright. So bright that it spreads light onto our street from the OH door windows about 30-40′ away. Definitely a quick and easy way to have bright light until (or even when) we get permanent electric installed. Definitely recommend.

I could hardly believe how easy installation was for these lights. They can be hardwire installed, super easy. They can be installed in a series, super easy. They can simply be plugged into an outlet, super easy. Wires are included, switches are included, brackets are included and even the screws are included. Each unit replaced an eight foot double bulb florescent. These are brighter and put off a ‘cleaner’ light. Excellent price as well.
