I have 5 of these units installed in the garage with a 6th as a backup. The lights are super bright and no dropped small parts can hide now. The units are light weight and easy to install by myself. I used the hooks and chains provided with the units, but used with a self-drill drywall anchor for more no-fall security than the small push in anchors provided. As for the 4-star rating, the top of the units run extremely hot. I have installed hanging from the garage ceiling and only use for an hour or two at a time so I feel ok with these units. However, I would not recommend surface mounting or using for long periods like for all day use.

These are great lights, very bright, good daylight color, good diffuser cover for the light dispersion and light weight. Issues you should be aware of: 1. These get pretty hot on the top so be careful what you are mounting this to. 2. Hanging the light with the chain installation is straight forward but flush mounting is not easy. First you have to measure the placement of the screws exactly, then it just slides on to the mounting holes so the depth of the screws become very important. Because of not being able to just screw it through the mount it can slide off if mounted in a place it might get jostled. 3. The on/off chain is very short so if mounted up high you will need to buy a chain extender. But with these caveats good light.

These lights are very good for the price point. Iβm a cheap SOB, and Iβd buy them again. They are very bright and easy to install. The press in anchors with hooks is plenty strong for these light weight lights. Donβt flush mount, they do get pretty warm. I think the chain is the way to go. If they can release the heat, they will stay cooler, and hopefully last longer. I wish the cord was a bit longer, but thatβs an easy fix with some butt connectors. When Iβm working on a motorcycle in the middle of the night, I want my garage lit up like the surface of the sun, and these do the trick.

The pictures don’t really tell the tale here. The new lights really do brighten up the garage. The mounting hardware for surface mounting….I’ll pass. The chains are adequate, and allow for the heat to disapate better, as they do get pretty hot. I’ll update if they don’t last, but for not I’m happy with them, even though they took a week to ship them.
