   They say “real solid wood” and they mean “real solid wood.” As a wood-working hobbyist, I can testify that this lamp actually is made of painted wood. Don’t expect something fancy like hardwood; it’s probably a whitewood/pine. Nevertheless, the majority of these kind of lamps on Amazon appear to be cheap MDF (aka glorified cardboard with wood-colored stickers attached to it). It’s refreshing to see that this manufacturer was honest about the product and concerned about good quality.Not every buyer will care about whether the item is wood, but considering how the price of this item is comparable to others, it’s great that you get a higher quality product. Personally, I really wanted something actually made of wood for two reasons: (1) durability, (2) better look.Laminated MDF tends to be less durable and more water-sensitive; the lamination can wear off or peel at the edges, and water can seep in (especially when it has fake wood texture added). The MDF warps dramatically, even faster than real wood. In contrast, wood veneers are better but if not high quality they can still wear badly at the edges. A wood veneer uses an actual thin layer of hardwood as an exterior glued onto a cheap interior. It makes sense for some items, but wouldn’t make sense for a simple lamp. A simple softwood like this works best. With a laminated piece, a small imperfection can be extremely visible and ugly. But with simple painted wood, a small imperfection sometimes does not detract much at all, or can even add to the piece by showing that it is wood and wood is inherently imperfect. If a tiny bit of paint chips (not that the lamp’s paint has shown any signs of chipping), one can easily add a dab of black paint. But one cannot easily replace a peeled veneer or relaminate MDF.One more note. I actually modified my lamp in two ways. First, I moved the charging shelf lower, so it’s the bottom shelf, not the middle shelf. This worked better with my chair. However, you cannot move the charging shelf lower without modifying the electrical wiring. The cable connecting the lamp to the phone charging base is too short. Nevertheless, I also wanted to add a second power cable so the lamp could plug into the wall separately from the phone charger. I use a smart outlet, so I needed to be able to cut power to the lamp without cutting power to the charger. Thankfully, the lamp base–into which the bulb screws–is high quality and easy to disassemble. It uses nice locking push terminals, so a small screw driver allowed me to release the old cable (made to connect to the phone charger) and insert another cable (standard, two-prong cable) that I kept from a different lamp that had fallen apart. While the included 3-way bulb is nice, I actually used a huge ALZO Digital 85W (300W equivalent) full spectrum daylight CFL bulb, which makes me feel nice and cheerful. The lamp shade is large enough to contain the gigantic bulb without a problem.These modifications were made possible by the high quality of this lamp. If you’re looking for this style of lamp, I highly recommend PAZZO.

   Assembly was easy enough and i love that it has an extra plug and USB ports that come in handy. I do wish it was a little bit more sturdy but it is in a corner that is sort of blocked off and it does hold some knick-knacks just fine. I could imagine it’s lack of sturdiness being an issue if it wasn’t in a corner or if it held much heavier things.

   I’ve been waiting to get a lamp that isn’t made of crappy MDF or other fake wood that breaks when you bump into it. This lamp is the real deal. Easy assemble with simple directions. All the tools/parts were there. Looks great and the shelves can support a good amount of weight/nicknacks. I got this on a deal for under 50 bucks and that is a STEAL for the build quality. 5/5

   Assembling has quite a few steps but OK effort. It’s a decent addition to any room. The main reason for deducting one point is it’s not as right as I hoped or pictured from online picture or information. It’s fine if I don’t do any reading. Otherwise, I need to turn on another light to be able to read. I am still happy with this purchase given the good price and the nice look it brings. And the built-in charger works too.

   The lamp was a cinch to assemble. Everything fits fine. The only problem I had was with the “tool” that’s included. The hex end worked fine, but the Phillips screwdriver didn’t. It didn’t fit the screws. Fortunately, I have Phillips head screwdrivers and used one that fit. Otherwise, it went together like a champ. It took around 45 minutes.

   Very easy to assemble, the lighting is awesome, very bright to light up a bedroom. And love the docking station.
