My toddler and my teen daughter both love these! We use one as a nightlight and they also use the dance party feature when they listen to music. They love getting to pick a different color or mode (like color flow, underwater and campfire) at bedtime. It’s really convenient that it can connect to my Alexa app so that even if I’m not in the room or at home I can adjust it or turn it off. The only thing we dislike is that when it gets unplugged and plugged back in it doesn’t default back to the last setting. Instead it goes back to the color white at 100% brightness. Speaking of, it can get REALLY bright! To put it into perspective, we turn it all the way down to 5% at night and after your eyes adjust It’s still bright enough go navigate the room like you would with a nightlight. At 100% we can light up their entire room (about 120 sq ft). The dance party feature is awesome because it syncs along with the music playing on your Echo and changes colors/speeds with the song! My toddler also loves the tap feature that let’s her tap it and change the colors. I got ours on sale/Amazon deals but even at full price I’d recommend them.

Amazon, this may surprise you, but I want to let you in on a little secret: some of the products you design for kids are actually sometimes purchased and used by adults. Case in point: Echo Glow.I ordered this and the new Echo that looks like an owl. Not for a kid, mind you, as I have no kids. I bought these for myself. For committing such a crime, I was cursed to have the absolute worst setup experience with this, a device that does little more than blink on and off and change colors. (At least, that’s what I bought it for. Haha.)Anyway, I’m not 100% sure WHY setup went so poorly for me, but I suspect it was due to the setup for Amazon Kids, which you’re for some reason forced to set up when you buy one of these Amazon Kids devices. You see, I received the Echo Glow a day prior to receiving the Echo, and Amazon (as far as I can tell) forced me to set up a kid profile to use this simple device that just flashes colors. I was also forced to set up the Echo in similar fashion, but I was able to immediately disable Kid Mode (or whatever it’s called) after setup. (Seriously, why not just let me specify from the start that it isn’t for a kid?!)I think this broke something, as the Echo Glow just kind of went haywire. And it didn’t just stop working. For some reason, when it’s not set up properly, Echo Glow decides to just flash random colors at its highest brightness until you fix the issue. I could momentarily change its color/brightness through the app, but it’d change right back to full brightness the next time it changed colors a second or two later. WHY?! Mind you, I didn’t discover anything was wrong until I was about to go to bed, so I had this obnoxious flashing light at my bedside and more or less had to fix it before I’d be able to sleep. So, I went through the setup again. And again. And again. And the app kept claiming I hadn’t completed setup. Every. Single. Time. I ended up having to completely reset the device, and it somehow allowed me to complete setup.Amazon, it shouldn’t be this complicated or stressful to set up a little flashing light. Make it easier to set up your “Kids” devices without a kid profile, and have them behave normally if someone chooses to set them up that way. And consider making this thing act less obnoxiously when it’s not set up properly, as it’s currently far too disruptive when something’s wrong.I honestly wasn’t expected to have to say so much about a little flashing light, but this thing was absolutely infuriating to deal with until it was set up properly, and bear in mind that I went through setup numerous times.

This is actually great for everyone, so don’t be put off by the fact that they market this towards kids because they make great additions to the bathroom and kitchen for late night trips where you have the house dark and need to navigate but hate the idea/effect of turning on standard lights. As my title mentioned, I now own two and am very happy having them live in my kitchen and bathroom where I can use my Alexa to turn them on (or just leave them on) and have them on a low-medium red light that won’t destroy my night vision but provide ample lighting for easy navigation.Get one, or more, you won’t be sorry if you’re using it in this fashion and I say this having Philips Hue Color lights in the house (which are also cool). Just don’t think that this is good for reading or actually lighting a room, as that’s not what it’s designed for.

I originally purchased just one of these for my 18 month olds bedroom. I had it out of the box, set up, and linked to Alexa within minutes. It didn’t take long for me to realize it would be the perfect night light for my 8 year olds room as well- so I purchased another one! They both love them and have used them every single night for the past 5 or 6 months without any issue.I love the endless color choices and that you can adjust the brightness all the way from very low to nearly as bright as a real lamp.If you’re on the fence with this item, I would highly recommend buying it. You won’t be disappointed.
This Is Not –
The Echo Glow is about the same size as a newer Echo Dot and was easy to setup. The Alexa app guided me through the process and was able to quickly add the Glow. It took about 30 seconds to get the light setup and going. There are multiple color options and brightness levels, or you can use your voice and accompanying Echo speaker to control the light. I was hoping the light would be able to somewhat replace an aging lamp that doesn’t like smart bulbs. That hasn’t been the case. The Echo Glow is more of an accent light and won’t replace a lamp, or a dim bulb. It’s still neat and less expensive than a good RGB smart bulb. I was just wanting it to be a tad brighter. Other than that, it’s a great gadget for adding an accent to a nightstand, desk, or kid’s room (if you buy 3-4 of them).
