   I just received this laser and bought it to replace a 50mW laser I lost, which I used to point out stars and constellations as a teaching aid for children. I am super impressed by the brightness of this laser! It seems much brighter than the 50 mW laser I replaced and works perfect for pointing out stars. My guess is this laser is closer to 100 to 150 mW, which is more than adequate for astronomical purposes. Being I’ve only owned this laser for a few hours, I haven’t had a chance to determine the battery life. For now, I gave the battery life a 3-star rating until I’ve had time to determine the actual battery life, at which point I’ll update my review. I did charge the laser when I received it and it appears to have charged properly.

   Where do I begin as I opened my birthday present and found the slender package I was befuddled to discover the laser pointer had such power initially thought it was interesting that the silver cap made such a wonderful design so I can have my own personal raves. Well I listen to electronic dance music in my bedroom in just my underwear I was even further surprised when I unscrew the bottom cap and found that it was USB a rechargeable what an amazing product and I am extremely pleased to see a safety clip for the button very nice touch

   Despite what the “<5 mW" label on the front of the laser says, this is a laser with an output power between 50-70 mW (the output power is not extremely stable): over 10 times the eye safe limit. That means direct hits from this laser to your eye can cause permanent damage faster than you can blink. Looking at the spot on the wall for any amount of time probably isn't good either. This power does make the laser incredibly useful for optics projects and experiments - I am using it to build a homemade Raman spectrometer. I'm pretty psyched that lasers this powerful are available so cheaply, but buyers should be aware that this is not the type of laser for everyday pointing use.The USB charge/battery functionality is fine but inconvenient for use in projects, and taking this laser apart to make it run off a power supply instead isn't trivial either.Another note: the 808nm wavelength used to pump this green laser is still very much present in the output beam. That means this laser emits invisible radiation alongside the visible green beam. This is something to be aware of, as even laser safety glasses rated for good OD at 532 nm may not protect against this radiation, which can give a false sense of security when wearing them.

   I use this green laser, without the endcap, to point out objects in the night sky. With the endcap you get multiple beams which is not helpful. Unscrewing the endcap gives a nice strong beam that can easily be seen. Please be careful where you point this. It can damage an eye if you are not careful. And NEVER point at an aircraft. Several years ago, I had a laser pointed at the cockpit of the airliner I was piloting, reported it to the FAA and they were able to catch the guy. It’s a federal offense.

   I bought this laser for a number of reasons, including pointing out stars in astronomy. It worked perfectly, and I highly recommend this product. It’s extremely bright when fully charged and it can easily scare away squirrels and birds. I actually popped a balloon with it.

   I was just expecting a run-of-the-mill pointer that our Siamese could chase. She’s had two others, both of which eventually disappeared, likely due to our 4 year old granddaughter’s curiosity. When this arrived I was pleasantly surprised. First, it is more the size of a pocket flashlight than a typical laser pointer. Second, it is rechargeable with a USB port, so I won’t have to continue to buy new batteries to power it. Third, it has a feature of being able to project a mini-light show. Fourth, it comes in a stylish box, which makes it a great gift. Five, and most important, the CAT LOVES IT!

   Very easy to use right out of the box. I had to take the silver cap off for laser pointer mode. All other features worked great. Good product for home and work.

   Laser pointer was very powerful and seems better for outdoor signaling use than as an indoor presentation pointer. There are no options for presentation pointer styles other than a strong green dot. I found the “toy” display patterns for cats and other pets to be not helpful (I do not have a pet). You need to remove the pet filter head to get the steady green dot option. The aluminum body is very durable. There is a plastic button guard (nice safety feature) and a hand strap but no pocket or belt clip. You could likely carry this item in a flashlight belt holster.
