Before: I had only jet speed, jet speed, jet speed, and off. After replacement of this switch, I have jet speed, medium, jet speed, and off. My 1990 Hunter fan has a capacitor so am not sure whether that has also failed and could be limiting getting all 3 speeds to work. For now, I am happy enough to at least get a lower speed option on the fan. But am somewhat disappointed for the time and work involved in my replacing this fan speed switch (I also had a 5-light kit attached to this fan which I needed to deal with so that was part of the time). I had seriously considered getting an electrician in to work on this, but my experience in this area is that they just want to replace with something new. And when I searched for new comparable replacements I was pretty disappointed in the reviews re. quality. So wanted to try this approach to getting moiré time but of what I have. I think ir probably is a good decision and time will tell. I have also reconciled myself that I probably will just have to bit the bullet and get something to replace it.
