I bought this switch because it was an EXACT match for my hunter fan. I looked at local stores and they had some weird brand that I was not sure would work. When I compared this switch to the one in the fan it was EXACT! Initially I was like, I felt bad because I’m ordering something so small, but let me tell you, I didn’t have time to deal with items that didn’t quite work, or returning things.. this thing was perfect. I tried to fix the old switch, The chain broke off inside it.. well that was a waste of an hour of my life…. and frustrating. OK my result and my reason for writing this review… Hey this switch works better than the old one and it’s smooth, and quiet… the old one would hang up and be tight and I had to pull. hard on it…. I would not have thought a new switch would be better… I bought two of the switches right away because I have alot of ceiling fans.. I may actually replace another one because the one I replace works so well.. This is just my experience… but if you have a pull chain that is a real dog, I suggest investing in this new switch and toss the old one.

This part was exactly like the original switch I replaced. The original’s chain link broke during a pull and I opened up the base cover to see if I could get this repaired without resorting to an expensive electrician visit. Turns out that this part can be readily switched. Only thing I didn’t like about this speed regulator switch was the length of the chain. It’s too short compared to the original, and will leave you short by quite a bit. If you aren’t tall, you’ll find the new pull chain after attaching the pull Bob at the lower end quite short. They could give a slightly lengthier chain.

I am short and I had to jump up to adjust our ceiling fan. When I did, I broke the chain and the switch. We went a while having to have the fan on at all times. Finally my husband checked it out and saw what we needed. So we checked Amazon and they had exactly what we needed.

My Hunter fan no longer had speed control and stayed on all the time since the pull switch had failed. Replaced it with this one. It was remarkably easy once I figured out how to remove the wires from the existing one. I stuck a tiny screwdriver into the holes along the top and pressed the retaining plates inward, which released the wires. The plates have small indentations so the wires can be stuck back into the sides without pressing the plates. Since the wire ends were already soldered, this was easy. The chain is 3 to 4 inches shorted than the OEM so you would have to add a few inches of chain if you needed it to be the same length.

Perfect match for Hampton Bay. Took five minutes to change out and works great. MAKE NOTE OF WIRING COLOR ASSOCIATED WITH POSITIONS ON OLD SWITCH.

Before I install this switch into my 25-year-old Hunter fan, I wanted to make sure that it replaces the old Well Tec WTC-1 E116997 that broke earlier this year (it developed a mechanical issue that made each single pull act like it was pulled twice). After comparing each position between the old and the new switches with the wiring diagram and a multimeter, I was able to confirm that I purchased the correct switch for my fan.The new switch is slightly physically smaller than the old switch, which should make it a little easier to fit the wires back into the fan’s electrical box. I bought the nickel finish because it was about $3 less expensive than the brass finish, but it’s not like anyone will care if they looked at it. At least it’s shinier than the tarnished bushing that came with the fan.EDIT – 12/7/22: The switch has been installed into the fan, and I now have a Medium speed again. After stripping the wires, I pushed them into the terminals and gave them a tug test: they did not budge once inserted. If youβre restoring a 25+ year old Hunter ceiling fan, I highly recommend getting this switch.
