I rarely write reviews anymore so pay attention when I do.Iโve purchased two of these fans the past few weeks. The first install went smoothly in the bedroom. Easy to install and follow instructions and easy to wire and I used only HomeKit to connect to my network – not the Hunter app.I did have someone to help with the first install but not the second install.I was replacing two 20 year old+ fans with two switch converting to a single wall switch controlling the power. I havenโt installed a fan before so it took a few hours to take down the old one and install the new one for both installs. The second fan was not so easy as youโll see below and the wiring was a slightly different.Caveat – if you purchase more than one of these when you setup Alexa/HomeKit etc. you must turn off other fans in your house. This is mentioned in the instructions somewhere and online. This was something that I missed and took me a while to figure out why it was not connecting to the HomeKit.The second issue is the second fan light did not turn on at all. I went back and forth with wiring initially ensuring I had the correct wiring which I did. Then I went with Hunter via email to resolve the issue which took roughly two weeks in total. First we replaced the light kit -not the issue- then we replaced the entire fan through hunter and I reinstalled everything again. No charge at all from Hunter and I had to return the defective fan entirely free of charge. After the full replacement everything worked fine until they both were no longer seen on the network this week.I read other reviews and decided to forced them on the 2.4 gz network today by adjusting a configuration in my router. Only Time will tell if these stay online and working.Itโs a good looking fan with good features at this price point however there are definitely some reliability concerns.Edit 9/5/2022Itโs been about a week. The fans are no longer on the network.Iโve setup IP address reservations and verified Iโm using compatible WiFi encryption however they were dropped again after 24 hours.Iโm continuing to try additional options to figure out why they are dropped.Edit 9/9/2022So itโs been another week. I downloaded the Hunter simple connect app, perused the horrible UI and somehow the firmware automatically updated to version 1.10.41 and this version seems stable and consistently connected to my home network. I did remove the IP reservation config but kept the setting to force them on the 2.4 ghz network.Iโm bumping up one star for nowHopefully this will be the last update.

Iโve gone through a few different ceiling fans in my lifetime and this one has been the best. We installed recessed lighting in my bedroom and took this opportunity to upgrade the ceiling fan. Works with HomeKit which was my #1 objective. Itโs super quiet, doesnโt make a sound!

Replaced a 30 year old fan would have fixed it it they still made parts. But Iโm glad they donโt, because I love the new fan much nicer looking quieter easier to put up. Better functions.

Replacement fans for broken existing fan with four foot downrod were almost non existent. Most had wifi/Blu-ray controls at ceiling and wires could not be spliced. Hunter controls are in the fan and include 52โ wires. Great. Alexa compatible, quiet and no wobble. Looks good.

So I wanted to replace my original hunter fan from the 80s. It still worked great but we wanted to update the look and the remote. Well this fan is NOT quieter than the old fans. Doesn’t push more air. What hunter did was add more speeds to the fan, so they claimed level one which barely rotates the fan is quiet but what’s the point if it doesn’t push enough air to get cool.

Looks great in game room. Bought a 18 in rod as ceiling was high. Remote easy to use.

So, if you have dual switches in your home to control the light and fan separately this fan will not work normally. When you wire this unit up there are two line-in (hot) wires, a neutral and a ground. Normally one “hot” wire coming from one switch would power the fan and the other would power the light. That is not the case with this unit; one hot wire powers the entire unit and the other will switch the light on and off but only with the other switch on. Apparently this is the normal operation yet it totally negates the purpose of dually wall switches. If you want to use the wall switch for the light you will have to leave the “fan” switch on or remove it and hard wire it. This will leave you with voice or remote to control the fan and voice, remote or switch for the light. If you leave the “main” power switch installed you can turn on the fan and light with it then control the light with the second switch but you will not be able to leave just the light on without turning the fan off via remote or voice control. This also means your only option to turn the fan back on would be remote/voice.This really is just an unthoughtful design. If you ever lose the remote or voice commands fail you would not be able to turn your fan on/off or adjust speed.Essentially they’ve taken 3 simple ways to control either the fan or light and either given you 1 less option for the fan or made some functions a 2 step process. Not a huge deal but quite cumbersome IMO. Also, I’ve installed a lot of fans and this is the first I’ve had to balance out of the box.The blade installation on this unit is one of the most annoying I’ve dealt with especially considering hunter has quick connect blades now. A lot of fans have a way to hang/hook the unit slightly out of your way when wiring it up but this does not. It gets a little more irksome to wire when you use the shortest downrod trying to go low profile. This is the first Smart fan I’ve installed (haven’t connected it yet because I’m unsure if I’m going to keep it) but I’m not sure I’d recommend it. I’d probably rather pay a little more for a less bothersome unit but I’ve already hung this one. I put off hanging the second one in the same room until I heard back from Hunter.I’m also not impressed with the function of the dimming feature. This appears to be how all Hunter “Integrated” units work. :/
