I’ve tried a lot of book lights, both battery and A/C powered, modified flashlights, etc. and this is the best so far because it nails two important features:1) It spreads the light over a relatively wide area2) It is dimmable to a relatively low levelMost reading lights, such as the popular “around the neck” kind and the common “small light on a gooseneck” kind (with the light source oriented perpendicular to the book pages) focus their light into a relatively small area. This creates a “hot spot” on the page with a lot of glare, surrounded by dimmer areas on the page extending out to the edge of the book. This uneven lighting is aggravating and produces eye fatigue, especially when reading against the backdrop of a dark room like one does while lying in bed at night. The glare issue is made worse by lights that are too bright and that cannot be adequately dimmed; I’ve tried using scotch tape or wax paper or a finger cot as a dimmer/diffuser with limited success. This Vekkia light has a wide light source oriented parallel to the page of the open book, thus the light is dispersed relatively evenly across the pages. Additionally, it can be dimmed to a lower level than other lights I have used. These features make for a more comfortable and enjoyable reading experience against the backdrop of a dark room. Selecting the amber color light option also enhances the experience.Another very useful feature is the base, which is large enough for the light to stand on. Clip on reading lights do not work well with magazines and some paperbacks, and the broad base allows this light to stand on my chest and illuminate the reading material when I am lying down.Drawbacks? Well, the plastic has kind of a cheap feel as though the light may not survive a fall to the floor, or that the buttons may not hold up to a lot of on-off cycles, and the battery is not replaceable so when it dies it will be time for a whole new light — but every other dedicated book light I have tried suffers from the same issues. I also would prefer that once the desired light level is selected it would stay there when turning the light off and on; instead, one has to cycle through the levels to the desired setting every time the light is turned on.But all things considered, this little light is a winner!

I like the fact that the brightness can be adjusted to 3 levels, and that it can be used cord-free. The battery life is good, though, for me, as I read a lot, it could be a bit longer, but then it might not be as compact as it is. I like that it’s compact and light and it has a nice strong clip to hold it. So far, out of 3 reading booklights I’ve purchased recently from Amazon, this is the only one that has held up, (one was defective, right out of the box) so that’s why I say, so far this has been a great booklight. Let the buyer beware.

I like the fact that it is a double light so that can put light on both pages of a book. My husband and I usually go to bed at the same time but I like to read a little bit before going to sleep, while he prefers to try to go right to sleep. I was always trying to “protect” him from the light from my bedside lamp. This little light is perfect in that you can adjust the brightness of the light and can aim it right on the book, so the light does not keep him awake. It appears to be very sturdy but is also lightweight. Love it. Don’t know why it took me so long to order it.

I have two reading lights, this one and another brand. This is my favorite and I was so happy with it I purchased a second one for a gift. The light is the perfect brightness for reading in bed and not disturbing my husband. The battery lasts for hours and should it start to dim while reading I simply plug it in and it recharges as I read. Iβm very happy with it. It illuminates both pages nicely and I donβt have to constantly adjust it like I do the other light. Itβs very lightweight and no problems at all with it staying in place while clipped onto my book. Iβve used it on both paperback and hardback books and it works great on both.

No more problems with being able to read any book in any room thanks to this light!! Three levels make the lighting for reading adjustable! I’ve had cheapy reading lights and was never happy with the light output or the stability of the clip to hold the light in place on the book. Not only are there 3 levels of lighting, but you have the option of a smaller light that only covers one page, and the head folds out for two lights that cover both pages!!! I LOVE this book light!

BOTTOM LINE:1. I highly recommend these lights.2. The 3 different light temperature colors make them useful any time of the day.3. The portable nature and clip has me using these in numerous ways.USAGE:I clip this light to my desk, to illuminate the floor at night so my little black doggie doesn’t get stepped on when we get up. I can angle it any way I need to, and spread the light because of the way the two lights open up like wings.LIKES:- I use these everywhere!- I have a second one that I take with me at night. I can clip it on whatever is close by so I don’t wake anyone else up.- It’s got 3 levels of light! I can make it bright to see, or dim, just enough to not be in the dark.- It has 3 color temperatures, or shades of light, from warm amber to bright white.- I take a lot of pictures, and using these allows me to get just the right lighting for pictures.DISLIKES:- The older version is not USB-C, so I have to fumble getting the charging cable in. The 2nd one I bought has been upgraded to USB-C.THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:I charge these every morning. They are so small and light, that I can get about 10 hours on the medium intensity setting.Once the lithium batteries near the end of their charging lifetime, I will replace the unit. I plan to keep a minimum of two of these operational at all times. The bright white color temperature will awaken someone if you turn it on near them. By using the warm amber color, I don’t have this problem.UPDATES:None at this time. I will update this review with any changes or important additions should any arise.
