First, I really like this ceiling light. It’s simple and features a color temperature switch for 3000/4000/5000K. I set it to 3000K because I prefer a warm white in the evenings. If you used it in an office or a workshop, you might prefer the daylight (5000K) setting. I have not tried it with a dimmer. The only issue I have is with installation. The provided mounting screws are M4 (metric) so I had to get some #8-32 x 1-1/4″ ones to fit my USA junction boxes (2-3/4″ spacing). You have to feed the wires thru a small hole in the mounting plate to complete installation, so if you’re connecting to solid AWG 14 like most people, this means you need to place the wire nuts ABOVE the mounting plate before installing it. This is not too hard if you (1) install one mounting screw in the J-box and (2) hang the entire light assy including the mounting plate from it with the included hanger cable; I used an electrical clip. (3) attach the wires using the included wire nuts ABOVE the mounting plate and shove them up into the J-box. (4) Install the mounting plate on the existing screw using the keyhole slot to support the assembly while you (5) install the second mounting screw and tighten them both. At this point it is simple to (6) push the wires up thru the center hole, (7) disconnect the hanger cable so it lies flat on the bottom, and (8) install the housing by twisting it onto the retaining clips. I replaced the original arcane sticker on the outside with a “<< Remove CCW <<" notification on the edge nearest the color temp switch so it will be easier to find if I decide to change the color. I installed 3 of these fixtures this way and had no problems at all.

24W LED is equivalent to 100W incandescent, but this light seems to be even brighter than that. It is not a warm colored light, it does not make things look yellow. I would not use this in bedrooms, living or dining rooms or kitchen. I considered it a good light for workshops. My house is from the 1940’s. Multiple tries of connecting the fixture base to the plaster did not work.Removing the existing flat bar that crosses the ceiling box, I was able to connect to the ceiling box with the original screws.

It is being used in a sewing room, where having a higher Kelvin color temperature is valuable. It is working well.During the installation, I was able to secure the base plate to a ceiling truss rather than the electrical box. Being able to suspend the light from the base plate with the supplied wire made making the electrical connections easy. I did have to open up the tabs on the light a bit for them to engage the base plate. It is well seated, without any gap between the light and the ceiling.

I was worried it was too small, but it’s much brighter than the 24″ dual-flourescent light fixture it replaced. My ancient household wiring made it a little harder to install (zero room in wiring box) but most people should have no problem. I did have to (very lightly) bend out the tabs on the light that grab the mounting bracket.

I used these in a few apartments I was updating. Worked perfectly and one was on a dimmer. 3 brightness settings are good because you might want to set the hall light to be a little dimmer or brighter, it makes the unit versatile.

I used mine differently than usual. I mounted it to my ceiling fan, because the light kit that came with it really socks. I’ll post a picture later.

My house has short ceilings. It was built in 1897. My ceiling height is 7’1″. All lights we have had installed pose a problem with anyone who is tall. Years ago my husband tried to install a single track light. I hated it and it looked stupid. Then I found these lights. We have now installed 4 in our house and I just bought 4 more. I love the look. I love that we can adjust the softness of the light. I can make them very bright in my kitchen and soften the light in my living room and bedrooms. Plus, bonus they were easy enough to install that my husband who doesn’t normally do any maintenance stuff at the house (he leaves it for me) was willing to go install these.
